Most battery quotes start from the biggest system that fits and work backwards. We'd rather start from your bill. If your roof only holds a small array, or your household uses a modest amount of power, a big battery just sits half empty — you've paid for storage you never fill and never use. An AlphaESS system is a compact all-in-one that suits exactly that situation.

Small footprint, one unit

Inverter and battery in a single wall or floor-mounted unit. It suits a townhouse, a unit, a narrow side passage — anywhere a wall of equipment simply won't fit.
Stackable if you need more later

Start with the storage that matches what your solar actually produces today. If you add panels later, or an EV, or the household grows, more storage can be added to the same system.
Proven and widely installed

AlphaESS has been operating in Australia since 2015 and was the most installed home battery brand in the country by volume in 2022 and 2023. This isn't a new arrival — there's a large installed base and a local support chain behind it.
Full ten-year warranty

Systems installed since November 2024 carry a ten-year warranty across the whole unit, not just the battery cells. That matters: the electronics are usually the part that fails first, and on plenty of systems they're only covered for five.

What it's for: cutting your bill

The job of this system is to stop you exporting solar for a few cents and buying it back at peak rates the same evening. Store what your panels make during the day, use it at night. On a normal Melbourne tariff that's where nearly all the savings come from.
What it isn't: whole-home backup

These systems can keep essential circuits running during an outage — fridge, lights, internet, a few power points — but they aren't sized to run a whole house with the aircon on. If keeping the entire home running through a blackout is what you're after, that's a GoodWe or Sigenergy system and a bigger budget. We'll say so rather than let you find out later.
How we size it

We look at your last few bills, your existing solar, and when you actually use power. Then we recommend the storage that matches how you actually use power, not the biggest one we can fit. Sometimes that means telling you a smaller system is the better buy.

It does the job without the premium

AlphaESS sits in the sensible middle of the market — meaningfully more storage per dollar than the premium brands, from a manufacturer with a long track record here. For a home with a modest array and a normal bill, spending more doesn't buy you more savings. It just buys you more system.

We install it properly

A modest system installed badly costs you the same in callbacks as an expensive one. We've been to plenty of jobs where the equipment is fine and the workmanship isn't — loose cable runs, gear cooking in the afternoon sun, protection sized to the bare minimum, commissioning half-finished so the smart features never actually got set up. Ours are done once, done neatly, and done to the standard.

Why Evnex

We fit the Evnex E2 range because it does solar charging properly. Rather than talking to your inverter over wi-fi, it reads your home's actual power flow through a sensor at the switchboard — so it works with any brand of solar you've got, and it doesn't drop out when the wi-fi does. Built in New Zealand, with Australian support you can actually get on the phone.
Charges off your surplus solar

Set it to charge only on the solar you'd otherwise export, or top up from the grid when you're in a hurry. On a smaller system that matters more, not less — every kilowatt you keep is one you don't buy back at peak rates.
Won't overload your supply

The charger watches what the rest of the house is drawing and eases off the car when it needs to. No tripped mains, no callout.
Sized to your supply

On a smaller array and a single-phase supply, the biggest charger isn't the best charger. We'll work out what your switchboard and your solar can support and fit accordingly — including a grid-only model now that can have solar charging switched on later, if that suits you better.

A lot of people have an AlphaESS system working away in good order, and no working relationship with whoever installed it. Company folded, moved on, stopped answering the phone. It happens constantly.

You don't need to start again. We can add an EV charger to what you've got, add storage to an existing stack, or go through the settings properly so the system is actually charging and discharging at the right times for your tariff.

Equipment is positioned and shielded to reduce sun and rain exposure, both for compliance and for longevity. Heat and UV degrade outdoor gear faster than anything else, so where the equipment goes is part of the design, not an afterthought once it's on the wall.

We set up the tariff, the charge and discharge schedules and the app before we leave, and we show you how to drive it.
