FoxESS EV charger installation in Melbourne

FoxESS make the inverter, the battery and the charger, which is the reason to fit them together. We are accredited for solar and battery work as well as general electrical, so we can size the circuit against what you already have and set the charger to run on your own generation.

How we do it

What we actually do on the day

  1. Check the board before we price it

Spare ways, main switch rating, RCD type and what the rest of the house already draws. This is what decides whether a charger goes in as-is or needs board work first.

  2. Quote the whole job, fixed

Charger, cable run, circuit, mounting, commissioning and certificate in one number - not an hourly rate that grows once we open the wall.

  3. Run a dedicated circuit

A charger needs its own protected circuit with the correct RCD type. We run it, terminate it and test it to AS/NZS 3000.

  4. Configure dynamic load balancing

Set against your actual supply, not a default. Configured properly it lets most homes add a charger without upgrading their supply; skipped, it does nothing at all.

  5. Integrate with your solar and battery

Where you already have a FoxESS inverter or battery, we set the charger up alongside it in FoxCloud and watch it draw from your own generation before we call it done.

  6. Commission and hand over

Pair it to your account, run a live charge session, walk you through scheduling and issue your certificate of electrical safety. It works the first night, not the third.

The range

L Series or C Series

Two AC chargers sharing the same compact design, OCPP compliance and dynamic load balancing. What changes is how tough the shell is, how it connects, and whether it is ready for vehicle-to-grid. Charging power, cable length and warranty vary by variant - we confirm those against the current FoxESS datasheet when we quote rather than printing a figure here that may not match the unit you get.

  • L Series

    L Series

Compact AC charging with solar linkage

Homes that already have solar. PV power can be used directly, so the car charges on generation you have already paid for.

What it means for the install: We configure the load balancing against your actual supply and set the solar linkage up before we leave, rather than leaving you to find it in the app.

  • C Series

    C Series

Tougher shell, every connection, V2G ready

Exposed or high-traffic installs, sites where the Wi-Fi does not reach the switchboard, and anyone who wants the hardware ready for vehicle-to-grid.

What it means for the install: We pick the connection that actually works at your board - Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 4G or Ethernet - and prove it holds before handover instead of assuming the Wi-Fi reaches.

Why we fit FoxESS

We do not stock one brand and tell everyone it suits them. FoxESS earns its place for a specific reason: they make the inverter, the battery and the charger, so the parts are built to run as one system rather than three that happen to share a wall.

  • One manufacturer, one system

PV inverters, hybrid inverters, batteries and EV chargers, all managed through FoxCloud. Fewer handoffs between brands is fewer places for a fault to hide.

  • Charge on your own solar

The L Series takes PV power directly, so the car fills on generation you have already paid for rather than on grid import.

  • Dynamic load balancing

Charging power adjusts to what the rest of the house is doing. On most Melbourne homes that is the difference between adding a charger and upgrading your supply.

  • Built to be left outside

IP55 on both, and IK10 impact rating on the C Series. An outdoor install holds up through summer sun and winter rain rather than degrading in a season.

  • Open standards, not a walled garden

OCPP 1.6 and 2.0.1 across the range, with an open MODBUS interface on the C Series. The charger will still talk to third-party software years from now.

  • Ready for what comes next

The C Series is V2G hardware-ready to ISO 15118, so when vehicle-to-grid arrives the charger on your wall is not the thing stopping you.

FoxESS questions we get asked

How much does a FoxESS charger installation cost?

It depends on your switchboard and the cable run, which is why we quote per job rather than publishing a number. The three things that move the price most are the distance from the board to the charger, whether the board has spare capacity, and whether the run goes through an accessible roof space or has to be surface mounted. We check all three before giving you a fixed price.

L Series or C Series - which one should I get?

The L Series is the straightforward choice for a sheltered install on a home that already has solar, because it can take PV power directly. Go to the C Series if the charger will be somewhere exposed or knockable, if the Wi-Fi does not reach your switchboard, or if you want hardware that is already V2G-ready. Tell us where it is going and we will say which one we would fit.

What charging speed and cable length do they come with?

Both are available in more than one variant, and FoxESS update the range, so we confirm the exact power rating, cable length and warranty against the current datasheet when we quote rather than quoting a figure that may not match the unit you receive. Ask and we will send you the datasheet for the model we are proposing.

Can the charger run off my solar?

The L Series supports solar linkage, meaning PV power can be used directly to charge the car. How much of your charging that covers depends on the size of your system and when you charge, which is part of what we work through before quoting. If you have a FoxESS inverter or battery already, the charger sits alongside them in FoxCloud.

Will I need to upgrade my switchboard?

Often not. Dynamic load balancing adjusts the charging power to what the rest of the house is drawing, which lets most homes add a charger without increasing their supply. Whether yours is one of them depends on the board and your existing load, and that is the first thing we check.

Do you install FoxESS batteries as well as the chargers?

Yes. We are accredited for solar and battery work as well as general electrical, which is the reason FoxESS suits us as a brand - we can do the inverter, the battery and the charger as one system rather than sending you to three trades.

Do I have to buy the charger from you?

No. We are happy to supply and install as one job, or install a unit you have bought yourself. Either way the installation is certified and warranted the same.

Do you install outside Melbourne?

We cover Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. Check our service areas, or just ask - if we do not cover you we will say so rather than waste your time.
