Victorian rebates for heat pumps, batteries and going all-electric
Victoria and the Commonwealth run several schemes that cut the cost of a heat pump, a battery, solar panels or an induction cooktop. They have different rules, different amounts and different ways of claiming. Here is what applies to the work we do, in plain English, and exactly how much of it we handle for you.

What applies
Which Victorian rebates apply to your job
Home battery discount
Open
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes roughly 30% off the installed cost of a home battery. Victoria's own interest-free battery loan closed to new applications in May 2025 and has not been replaced, so this federal discount is what is actually available now.
About 30% off the installed costPaid as certificates worth a set amount per kWh of usable storage. The rate steps down every year, so the discount is smaller the longer you leave it.
Who can claim it
Battery between 5 kWh and 100 kWh of usable capacity
The discount is calculated on the first 50 kWh
Battery and installer must be on the approved list
Installed with solar, or at a property that already has it

Taken off the price at the time
What we do
It is already in the price we quote, shown as its own line so you can see what it is worth. We confirm the current rate the week you ask, because it moves.
Solar Victoria's rebate for replacing an old hot water system with a heat pump or solar hot water. You apply to Solar Victoria and name the installer on the application.
Up to $1,00050% of the purchase price, capped at $1,000 - or up to $1,400 for an eligible locally made system.
Who can claim it
Combined household income under $150,000 a year
Property valued under $3 million
Owner-occupier, or a rental provider applying as the owner
Replacing an existing hot water system

You apply, we supply the paperwork
What we do
We give you the quote, the licence details and the eligibility evidence Solar Victoria asks for, so the application is a form-filling exercise rather than a research project.
The state scheme that discounts efficient replacements for gas appliances. It is not a cash rebate you apply for afterwards: an accredited provider claims the certificates and the value comes off the installed price.
Ask us for the current figure — it changes, and we would rather check than guess.
Who can claim it
Victorian household replacing an existing appliance
The new appliance must be on the approved product register
Installed by an accredited provider

What we do
We work out whether the appliance you want qualifies before we quote, so the number you see is the number you pay.
Solar Victoria's rebate towards a new solar panel system, with an optional interest-free loan for the same amount again. We install the battery and switchboard side rather than the panels, but if you are doing both at once this is the rebate that covers the panel half.
Up to $1,400Plus an optional interest-free loan of up to $1,400 on top, which has to be selected when you apply.
Who can claim it
Combined household income under $150,000 a year
Property valued under $3 million
Owner-occupier of an existing home, or the owner of one under construction
No solar panel system installed at the address in the last 10 years
The address has not had a panel or battery rebate under this program before
Paperwork
You apply, we supply the paperwork
What we do
We tell you how the panel rebate and the battery discount interact before you commit, so you are not left claiming one and finding it rules out the other.
A federal scheme, not a Victorian one. Solar and eligible hot water systems generate certificates that installers trade, and the value is taken off the price up front. You will rarely see the word STC on a quote - it is already in the number.
Ask us for the current figure — it changes, and we would rather check than guess.
Who can claim it
Eligible system installed by an accredited installer
The number of certificates reduces each year until the scheme ends

What we do
It is already included in the price we quote. Ask us to itemise it if you want to see it separately.
There is no Victorian or federal rebate on installing a home EV charger, and we would rather say so than imply one exists. What does change the cost is your tariff and whether the charger can be scheduled to run overnight.
What we do
We set the charger up to run on your cheapest window, which saves more over a year than most rebates pay once.
Before we quote. Eligibility depends on the property, the appliance being replaced and sometimes your income, so it is worth two minutes on the phone.

The quote shows the real number
Where the discount is applied by the installer, it is already in the price. Where you claim it yourself, we show both figures so you know what you are out of pocket and when you get it back.

We supply the paperwork
Licence numbers, invoices, product model numbers, compliance certificates. Everything an application asks for, sent through without you having to chase it.
Sometimes. Federal and state schemes can occasionally stack, but most state schemes are one per property. We check the combination before quoting rather than after.
Do I pay the full amount and get money back later?
It depends on the scheme. Where an accredited provider claims the certificates, the discount is already off the price. Where you apply to Solar Victoria, you generally pay and are reimbursed.
I am renting. Can anything be claimed?
Some schemes have a rental provider pathway, but the application has to come from the owner. We are happy to send a quote your landlord can act on.
Is there a rebate on a switchboard upgrade?
Not on its own. If the switchboard has to be upgraded to fit a heat pump or a battery, it is part of that job and priced with it.
Why will you not quote me a rebate amount over the phone?
Because the amounts change and the eligibility rules are specific. We would rather check and tell you a number you can rely on than guess one you cannot.
